The study also identified the existing library programs organized by school librarians in relation to digital safety and how school librarians and school libraries can support and address students’ digital safety needs. This paper sought to answer the following research questions: 1) What do students think it means to be safe online? Sub-question: What do students do themselves to be safe online? 2) What do school librarians think it means to be safe online? Sub-question: What do school librarians do themselves to be safe online? 3) What do students think of librarians’ role helping them to be safe online? 4)What existing library programs are implemented by school librarians in relation to digital safety? By understanding possible gaps between students’ and school librarians’ conceptions and practices on digital safety, educators and school administrators will gain understanding on how digital safety could be more effectively developed and integrated as part of the school curriculum.
<publication_date media_type="online"><month>06</month><day>11</day><year>2019</year></publication_date><acceptance_date media_type="online"><month>06</month><day>11</day><year>2019</year></acceptance_date><publisher_item><item_number item_number_type="article_number">5524</item_number></publisher_item><program xmlns="http://www.crossref.org/AccessIndicators.xsd" name="AccessIndicators"><free_to_read start_date="2019-06-11"/><license_ref applies_to="am" start_date="2019-06-11">https://about.hal.science/hal-authorisation-v1</license_ref><license_ref applies_to="vor" start_date="2019-06-11">https://about.hal.science/hal-authorisation-v1</license_ref><license_ref applies_to="tdm" start_date="2019-06-11">https://about.hal.science/hal-authorisation-v1</license_ref></program><program xmlns="http://www.crossref.org/relations.xsd"><related_item><intra_work_relation identifier-type="uri" relationship-type="isSameAs">https://hal.science/hal-02142201v1</intra_work_relation></related_item></program><doi_data><doi>10.4000/proceedings.elpub.2019.16</doi><resource>http://elpub.episciences.org/5524</resource><collection property="crawler-based"><item crawler="iParadigms"><resource>https://hal.science/hal-02142201v1/document</resource></item></collection><collection property="text-mining"><item><resource mime_type="application/pdf">https://hal.science/hal-02142201v1/document</resource></item></collection></doi_data></journal_article></journal></body></doi_batch>
